Pygmy Goats - General Description

Pygmy Goats are believed to be some of the earliest domesticated animals. They are compact animals with well-muscled bodies. The head and legs of the Pygmy Goat are short in comparison with their body size. The Pygmy Goat's hair is straight and medium-long. It varies in density with seasons and climates. All colors are acceptable in Pygmy Goats. However, the standard animal should have muzzle, forehead, eyes and ears lighter than the dark part of the body. Hoofs are normally darker than the main body coat color in Pygmy Goats. There are also solid black Pygmy Goats.

Beards can be called the hallmarks of Pygmy Goats. Beards can be rather sparse in females. However, considerable hair growth is preferable in males. Their beards should be dense, long and flowing.

Female Pygmy Goats are called does, and males are called bucks. Young Pygmy Goats are kids. Pygmy Goats have a lovely and even temperament. They love being around people.

Pygmy Goats - History

Pygmy Goats are also called Cameroon Dwarf Goats. They are known to have come from the former French Cameroon area. Cameroon Dwarf Goats came from Africa to zoos of Germany and Sweden. Then, they were exported to the United States, England and Canada. Dwarf Goats have a large distribution over equatorial Africa. At present, Pygmy Goats are famous pets all over the world.
